You’ve Got Questions - We’ve Got Answers

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

How does this work? I have never done it?

An escape room is a 60 minute puzzle adventure game where the goal is to escape or solve a particular scenario. Many puzzles and obstacles are laid out before you that must be overcome as a group to succeed.

Additionally you will be thrust into an incredibly immersive environment to the point where you will feel like YOU are part of a movie.

What are the rules?

• There is no need to lift or move heavy objects, or climb on top of furniture.

• None of our games require the use of force. If something seems secured in place, it is. This includes all locks as well. They will open easily when the correct key or combination is used.

• If you break something in one of our games by using excessive force or reckless behavior, you must pay for it.

• Nothing is hidden within the ceiling tiles.

• Do not use any foreign objects or lock picks to open any locks.

• Cell phones and other electronic devices must remain off and can not be used inside the room.

Are we really locked inside the room?

No! Puzzle Theory offers the Escape Room experience without the need to lock you in a room!  There will always be a door unlocked to allow you to leave whenever you want

Is this scary like a haunted house?

Warehouse 13 is our only experience that has any scary elements. It contains loud noises and horror elements but no live actors or things jumping out.

The other games have zero jump scares, live actors, or horror elements involved.

Can children participate?

Yes, but these games are designed for adults and recommended for ages 13 and up - some younger children might find the clues to be too difficult.
Therefore:
• Children age 16 and under must be accompanied inside the room by an adult.
• Some of our rooms may have adult themes and language not suitable for children under the age of 13.

A bin is provided in each room for your personal belongings. Only your group will have access to the room during your event.

Do I need any special skills?

Our rooms require no special outside knowledge. No need to be a scientist or scholar. However, intense analytical, critical thinking and teamwork is a must.

You should be able to reach things located on the ground as well as up high. Some requirement to get on the ground for especially low objects may also be required of someone in your group.

Do you have any tips?

Make sure to communicate openly with everyone else in the room. Talk to each other and share the clues you have uncovered. Work together to solve puzzles. If you discover new information, be sure everyone in the room knows about it. Even the simplest item may have a use in another part of the room.

Will other people be in the room with us?

All of our rooms are private bookings by default. We will not match you with strangers!

  • I played some of your retired rooms. Are any of the new ones just re-named versions of the retired rooms?
When we retire a room, that is it for that story line and those puzzles. All the games that are currently available are all new sets designs, all new puzzles, and all new stories. We have only created one direct sequel and that is our Jungle 2: The Next Dimension escape room. Even being a sequel there are 100% all new puzzles.
  • How often do you change the rooms and what makes you decide to retire a room?
There are many factors. There are usually a combination of factors that determine when we retire a room. It may be a surprise to hear that we have never retired a room due to it being unpopular. Every room that was retired was considered a fan favorite that was well loved and remained popular right until retirement. There is no set timeframe for how long it will take before we decide that a room needs to be retired. But we weigh a variety of factors to make the hard choice of retiring a room. Our latest rooms have taken anywhere from 6 months to a year to build so we unfortunately cannot create new rooms that frequently. Below is a list of the pros and cons of each of the rooms we retired. We felt that the cons heavily outweighed the pros and such led to their subsequent retirement. The Interview: PROS - Beginner Friendly. Had a nerf gun. You get to dance CONS - It needed a set design update. It's story was basic and not as interesting. It felt like just a room full of puzzles. The reset between games was too long. The Missing Doctor: PROS - Fun Storyline. Some very memorable moments and puzzles such as a solar car, custom record player, and a secret bookcase door. Some people loved the song from the record player. CONS - The reset between games was very long. The set while generic felt real and believable but by today's standards was outdated. Some people hated the song from the record player, there was no in-between. The Experiment: PROS - Large space to explore. Great teamwork elements. Fun secret passages. CONS - Set design needed an update. Some puzzles were too hard and most groups ended up failing this room. Some puzzles were either too difficult or maintenance nightmares. The reset between games was too long. The Dimension Gate: PROS - Zero combination locks. Zero key locks. Unique and fun storyline. One puzzle is customized for each group. Before the game each team would take a personality quiz before the game. Very short reset. CONS - Very small room could only accommodate 4 people. The personality quiz became quite challenging to keep up with on busy days. The Jungle Dimension: PROS - Very popular theme enjoyed by all ages. Very immersive sound, lighting and set. CONS - Had a major design flaw that either accidently or intentionally would allow players to skip huge amounts of the game. There were two dexterity puzzles that were doable by most groups, but occasionally some groups were not skilled enough to solve them forcing us to awkwardly allow them to bypass the puzzle to continue the game.
  • I am disappointed that I didn't play any retired rooms. Do you have plans to bring retired rooms back?
We completely understand the feeling of missing out on some great escape room fun. The escape room industry has evolved heavily over the last decade. The majority of the rooms that we ended up retiring were incredibly fun 6 years ago. But they would not hold up under today's standards for what an escape could and should be. We are committed to offering the best experience possible. Thank you for your support!
